Is there a better way ?

O K, All of this defund police crap that BLM and the like are promoting, got me thinking.            What if their was a better way ?

True, there are some interactions that call for less than deadly force, even though the suspect has or is involved in a felony crime and is resisting arrest, which is a felony in itself, what is an officer to do ?

Right now the directives don't give him much leeway, but suppose we could change that. Just suppose for a second that we give the officer a choice of accessories to help in effecting this arrest. What would that look like ?   They already carry a "Taser" in most departments and some carry "Mace" or pepper spray, but do they practice when to use these items rather than the gun ?

First off, when he arrives on the scene or makes the stop, his first order is secure and control the scene. Making sure that the suspect can't hurt himself, others nearby, or the officer, how does he do that ? Then he has to actually subdue the suspect without allowing said suspect to gain control of him, his gun or any other type weapon and leave the scene on foot or vehicle.

Most big city departments run 2 officers to a unit and even at that some suspects can be exceptionally hard to subdue, as we saw in Atlanta. In my mind I think that if one of the officers would have been able to use a stun gun, such as the "SHORTY", available here, at the onset, when it was evident the suspect was resistant, may have stopped the escalation then instead of having to shoot him if he is running away.

I also think that there is room for the use of "Mace" in certain instances, where the spray or gel can be controlled.  I think that this could be implemented in a way to make a division that would handle less violent calls with a team of officers that one officer would be thinking using only non lethal means to subdue anyone needing arrest, while the other officer could be there with more stringent means if needed.

Just thoughts rattling around in my empty head,  Dutch

In my opinion the Gel is better as it stays concentrated and sticks to the assailants face and hands to give him a very miserable experience for about 45 minutes, more than enough time to get away, or the police to arrive. 10 to 20 shots at 15 ft or better will keep you safe. buy on the  right !

My first self defense item offering !

The last post talked of a stun gun or "Tazer" of which I offer here in the right column but I like the "Mace" Pepper Spray Gun a little better.

The pepper spray gun is really effective out to about 20 feet and has 15 to 18 bursts so it can be as effective as a gun without being deadly. In my mind it makes better sense to carry.

There are a bunch of videos about this, just google, "Pepper Spray Gun"

The price is just 59.00 and you can order the accessories [ holster, extra cartridges] to go with it by going to the right and clicking the Paypal button.

Unfortunately these have been on backorder for quite a while, the manufacturer can't seem to keep up with demand,  WONDER WHY !

Pocket Taser Gun, A
Great Gift For The Wife?

Anonymous

This was submitted by a guy who purchased his lovely wife a "pocket Taser" for their anniversary.   Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 22nd anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife, Toni. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the taser were suppose to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety.... WAY TOO COOL!   Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two triple-a batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arch of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.   Awesome!!!   Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Toni what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.   Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-a batteries,... right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?   So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, taser in another.

The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.   All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-a batteries) thinking to myself, "no possible way!"   What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best.....   I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, "don't do it master," reasoning that a one-second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.... I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for the heck of it.

I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and HOLY MOTHER, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION@!@$$!% !@*!!!   I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs. The cat was standing over me making meowing sounds I had never heard before, licking my face, undoubtedly thinking to herself, "do it again, do it again!"   Note: If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a taser, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one-second burst when you zap yourself. You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor. A three second burst would be considered conservative.   SON-OF-A- ... that hurt like hell!!!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantle of the fireplace. How did they get up there??? My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novacaine, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I'm still looking for my testicles. I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return.   Still in shock...

It will continue.

Confrontations between police and suspects will continue.

That is a given because police have the duty to arrest persons they feel are breaking the law and those persons don't want to be arrested. So get used to it.

I don't condone police brutality in any way and I have spoken out about it right here but what's been alluded to this year has been wrong as has most that have happened recently.

The woman who was shot in her apartment due to a "no knock" warrant was wrong, although I understand that the male person they were seeking opened fire on them first, that's just what I heard, which puts another light on it.. The man shot and killed in Atlanta was wrong but was brought on by him "resisting arrest" although the officer didn't have to shoot him, in my opinion.

Which brings me to this. The Atlanta shooting, the shooting in Minneapolis, the most recent in Milwaukie are all a signs of lack of respect for the law. I've stated here in earlier posts about the amount of force that an officer can use to effect an arrest and is a necessary tool or their wood be many suspects resisting and doing real damage to officers and the public.

Most people who have comments about this situation have never had to face someone that was bigger and stronger than they are and likely on some drug, mad and ready to fight, and have to force them to do anything. Yet they already know what is right or wrong about a situation before they know all of the facts.

In all of my posts I have waited until I had adequate information to form "my opinion" of what happened and based on my knowledge could see where the officer was right or wrong. There has been a couple of times the officer appeared to use excessive force but 99% of the time the officer was within his lawful rights to do what he did. As stated above, some times the officer could have over stepped the need for as much force as he used but I myself understand why he did.

Keep in mind that all of the officers in law enforcement are just like you or I, they have just decided to go out everyday and protect you from the criminals that would hurt or kill you if they were given the chance.

The people in law enforcement are just human beings and as such are fallible and under pressure of violence, could make a bad judgement call in the split second they have to evaluate a situation, leaving them and others at risk, and mitigating that sometimes doesn't turn out the way it was planed.

All in all, they deserve our respect not vile hatred, their lives matter too!

I'm an Independent but I'm voting this way

no good deed goes unpunished

A policeman was rushed to the

A policeman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix.

The doctors operated and advised him that all was well. However, the policeman kept feeling something pulling at his pubic hairs.

Worried that it might be a second surgery and the doctors hadn't told him about it, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown up enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable.

Taped firmly across his pubic hair and private parts were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily --- if at all.

Written on the tape in large black letters was the sentence,

"Get well soon, From the nurse in the Land rover you booked for speeding last week."

Just a little levity

I read this in a book the other day and got a chuckle, so I'm passing it along !

Do you know the difference between a pregnant girlfriend and a light bulb ?

You can unscrew the light bulb !   Just a thought

Will it ever STOP !

Another black person shot while resisting arrest

When are they going to wake up ?  It's simple, do as the officer tells you and all you get is arrested---- NOT SHOT !!!

This all started before Rodney King but that incident brought it to light. Mr. King was repeatedly told to lie down and place his hands behind his head, standard procedure when dealing with a large aggravated person, but Mr. King would not listen, even after being struck several times by the officers. All he had to do is what he was told and he would have not received the beat down.

This same thing has happened in Ferguson, Baltimore, Atlanta and many other cities, some you haven't heard about, others you have, and recently Minneapolis and now Wisconsin. The faction in the black community that believes they don't have to respect the law and people that are charged with enforcing those laws, are going to have to get a new mind set or this will go on forever because society won't let the rioting continue. As much as they and the blind followers of Antifa or BLM think that they will be able to effect defunding all police forces is absurd.

This may sound like I'm against the black community but I'm not. I wish they all had the opportunity to earn a respectable living and be a productive part of society, but it's not here yet.

I do think our current President is trying very hard to head in that direction and if he had just a little help from the DEMs he could get a lot more done. I guess we'll see later this year.

I'll close with this wish, that all who interact with law enforcement please, OBEY the officers commands, except the fact you got caught, fight it out in court not in the street where the officer might have to shoot you, your possibly dead, your family greaves for you and he has to live with that on his mind for the rest of his life. For what, possibly just a minor charge on your record. What a waste.
